Trailing Drawdown Calculator

Your trailing threshold moves with your account and then locks — and most traders blow up because they don't know where the line is right now. Pick intraday or end-of-day trailing, drop in your numbers, and see your exact liquidation line. Apex presets built in; set size and drawdown separately for any other firm.

Intraday vs end-of-day trailing — the difference that saves accounts

Apex now offers two trailing drawdown models, and which one you're on changes everything about how the line moves:

Both trailing models only move up, never down, and both lock once the threshold reaches roughly your starting balance + $100 — after that your liquidation line is fixed.

Current Apex trailing drawdown amounts (2026)

AccountProfit targetTrailing drawdownDaily loss limit (EOD)
$25K$1,500$1,000$500
$50K$3,000$2,000$1,000
$100K$6,000$3,000$1,500
$150K$9,000$4,000$2,000

Intraday and EOD use the same drawdown amount per size — only the timing differs. The $75K / $250K / $300K sizes are legacy (no longer sold, but existing accounts keep their old amounts — both are in the preset list above). Always confirm against your own dashboard; firms change these.

The number this calculator won't show you

It tells you where the line is. It can't tell you why you keep hitting it — the behavior that walks you into the threshold: sizing up after losses, holding losers far longer than winners, giving back open profit. That pattern lives in your trade history, and it's exactly what a PropProof checkup reconstructs from your fills.

FAQ

What's the current Apex 50K trailing drawdown?
$2,000 on current (4.0) Apex 50K accounts, with a $3,000 profit target. Legacy 50K accounts used $2,500. Confirm on your dashboard.
Is intraday or EOD trailing better?
EOD is more forgiving because intraday spikes don't lock in a higher threshold — only the closing balance counts. Intraday is cheaper but punishes giving back open profit. Pick based on whether you tend to let winners run and pull back.
Does the trailing drawdown include open positions?
On intraday accounts, yes — unrealized profit counts and can raise your line. On EOD accounts, only your closing balance matters, so open-position swings during the day don't move the threshold.
Can I use this for Topstep or another firm?
Yes — choose "Custom / another firm," set your starting balance and drawdown amount, and pick the trailing type your firm uses. Topstep, for example, uses end-of-day trailing.
